Cheer up, Hugo...

The official Kings of War Twitter feed had a great link today regarding Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez' recent crackdown on Twitter and Facebook. Much like last year's elections in Iran, social networking sites are suspected of being used to organize protests against the Venezuelan government.

Still, relax, Hugo. According to some, Twitter and Facebook's role in protest organizing might be the least of your concerns. Many of the anti-Chavez tweets are in English, suggesting an appeal towards a foreign audience, not to ordinary Venezuelans. Nevertheless, there's still quite a few Spanish tweets, and Chavez doesn't have the control over the Internet that Iran seems to.

It will be interesting to see how, or if, this unfolds.
