Army Aviation Video of the Day

(H/T Jamie McIntyre's Line of Departure)

Great video of an American AH-64 Apache helicopter engaging Taliban insurgents after an attack on an ISAF base in Afghanistan. I particularly like how the pilot of the aircraft ensures that the insurgents are well clear of civilians and villages before engaging. Great example of Army Aviation attack assets in a counterinsurgency environment....

Impressive! A far cry from back in the day, that’s for sure.

I’ve been wondering, though, how effective that IR would be against infantry under triple canopy. Any idea?

Paul--It will be a few weeks before I can talk to some "gun bunnies", but I will ask them!

Toward the end of the video, it looks as though a friendly in a ball cap is throwing a grenade. Were there good guys in the area who engaged the remaining bad guys after the gun pass?
